The newly completed Crissy Field Overlook, with its vistas of San Francisco and the Bay, was officially opened with a media event hosted by the Presidio Trust and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

Crissy Field Overlook is the third major vista point to be completed in the Presidio. The Overlook is part of a program to nearly double the size of the Presidio’s trail system and create new ways for the community to experience the Presidio’s great outdoors. The beautiful stone plaza features views of the waterfront, San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, and the San Francisco skyline.

Our national parks belong to all of us: In April 2007, the Fund made a lead grant totaling $15 million to the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy to help ensure that the Presidio will be a place that is used and enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Building on the Haas, Jr. Fund’s support to the Crissy Field restoration in 1999, this gift to the Presidio of San Francisco raises the Fund’s philanthropy in the Golden Gate National Parks to more than $30 million total to date, the largest cash contribution ever received for America’s national parks.
