Nadine Smith is co-founder and CEO of Equality Florida, the state’s largest organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. In this video, the Florida native recalls growing up gay “in a world where I thought I wasn’t supposed to exist.” Citing widespread concerns across the LGBT movement about the current political environment and the possibility of rights getting scaled back, she said Florida’s experience offers hope and a path forward.
