
As senior communications officer, Denis Chicola manages and undertakes a range of the Haas, Jr. Fund’s major communications projects, including the website.
Denis has more than 20 years experience in developing and implementing communications strategies, with substantial experience in both the private and the nonprofit sectors. He served as director of video communications at Levi Strauss and Co., directing internal and external video communications for distribution in more than 70 countries and creating marketing videos for 40,000 retail outlets in the U.S. He was also publications editor and video producer for Macy’s West.
Denis has worked extensively as a freelance writer and producer. His projects have included working with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles to create, promote and direct an annual World AIDS Day celebration and writing and directing a film for AIDS Project Los Angeles showcasing the benefit of creative writing classes for people infected/affected by AIDS. He has also produced and directed special events for clients including President Clinton’s Presidential Inaugural Committee, and he served for ten years on the board of Weingart Center Partners, a nonprofit agency that serves the homeless population in Los Angeles.
Denis holds an M.A. in Journalism from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York and a B.A. in English from Siena College in Loudonville, New York.
