Michael Smith

Michael Smith has served as manager of information systems with the Haas, Jr. Fund since 2001. He managed the technology build-out of the Fund’s current offices when it moved to One Market Plaza and now is responsible for the Fund’s network, servers, telephony, audiovisual systems and security.  Michael is working to improve the performance and energy efficiency of the Fund’s servers, expand the Fund’s business continuity strategy, and ensure that the IT perspective helps drive improvements in the Fund’s grantmaking systems.

Before taking his current position, Michael worked in a variety of support positions with the Fund. A native of the Bay Area, he came to the Fund from the performing arts scene in San Francisco.  He was a founding member, lighting/sound designer and actor for two San Francisco theatre companies. He also was a teacher at Shelton Studios, which is nationally recognized as one of the finest professional film and theatre schools for actors and directors.
