Derek Tynes

Director of Talent and Culture

Derek leads the Fund’s work to build an inclusive and supportive organizational culture that matches its values and ambitions for positive change.

As Director of Talent and Culture, Derek oversees efforts to ensure that the Fund’s staffing, organizational culture and human resources systems are aligned with its values and strategic vision.

Derek joined the Fund in 2019 after serving as Chief Human Resources Officer with The Glide Foundation, which is focused on advancing social justice and social services in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. Previously, he served in senior human resources roles in the corporate and nonprofit sectors, including positions with AIG, Charles Schwab, and the Tides Center. He also served for a number of years as an adjunct professor with the University of San Francisco’s McLaren School of Business and Management. 

Derek has a BA in psychology from Boston University and attended graduate school at Rutgers University.
