How leadership programs can help solve racial inequalities

Part of the Leadership for a New Era series, this report explores the ways in which our current thinking about leadership often contributes to producing and maintaining racialized dynamics.

Leadership programs can help solve racial inequalities in access to education, healthcare, income, and wealth. At the same time, many current approaches to leadership development actually maintain and promote racial inequalities. This report analyzes the link between major investments in the racial equity and leadership development fields, and makes recommendations for helping develop and support leadership programs that furthers racial justice in organizations, communities, and the broader society.
