Cathy Cha

Welcoming the Fund’s New President

Cathy Cha brings a record of collaborative results and a passion for fairness and justice to her new role.

In a letter to partners and colleagues, the Fund’s Board of Directors praises Cha as an innovator and a powerful champion for families and communities.

We are delighted to announce that we have named Cathy Cha President of the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund. Over the past two years, Cathy has served as the Fund’s Vice President of Programs during a planned leadership transition as we welcomed a new generation of family members to the Board and expanded our staff team. We have absolute confidence in her ability to help us write a bold new chapter in the Fund’s history of collaborative work to advance rights and create opportunities for all people.

Cathy is a true innovator in advancing new models for how foundations can partner with communities, advocates, and government for greater impact. Since joining the Fund’s staff in 2003, she has been a strategic, effective, and powerful champion for people and communities aspiring to enjoy the opportunities and freedoms inherent in the American promise.

When our parents and grandparents created the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund in 1953, they were inspired by a vision of a society in which all people could live, work, and raise their families with dignity. Today, more than 65 years later, this vision remains at the center of the Fund’s work. At a time when so many of our neighbors are struggling to find dignity and justice, we believe Cathy has the skills and the passion to ensure that the Fund and our partners can remain a powerful force for change.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Cathy to her new role as she leads the Haas, Jr. Fund into the future.

Sincerely,

Walter J. Haas Robert D. Haas Betsy Haas Eisenhardt
